A few weeks ago I worked with local band Written In Kings on the earliest Photoshoot I’ve ever done (we started at 5am!)
They needed some upto date photographs and something they could use for their new single cover & accompanying launch show poster.
I’d heard of the band years ago but never actually had the chance to check them out before. I’d just finished a 12 hour wedding and I dashed over to Clwb Ifor Bach and got there 10 minutes into their set. I hadn’t really thought things through and didn’t have a change of clothes with me, so there I was - stood at a gig in a suit and tie!
I was at the back of the room trying to hide the fact I looked like a record label boss from London, enjoying the awesome wall of sound that was blasting from the stage. I took a snap or two from where I was stood thinking the band would appreciate a quick snap from the back for their Twitter or something,
Then Nathan, their drummer, comes to the front of the stage and starts beating a bass drum hard to start a really awesome song - almost a Travis Barker moment. Without hesitating I was right down the front with my camera thinking I need to grab a picture of this! All the while I’m wishing I could tell the hundred or so people stood behind me that I’d rushed here from a wedding, hence the suit.
That quick photo turned into documenting the last few songs of their set….
